DEVELOPMENT ROSTERS FOR CLUBS WITH INTERNATIONAL AMBITIONS

The term ‘development system’ is used by clubs that operate on state budgets but have never— even in their dreams—produced any programmed new value! The pace of playing two games per week leaves players with insufficient time even to recover, let alone to produce new playing value capable of satisfying ambitious international clubs (unrealistic).

The dilemma of purchasing quality or developing potential is an eternal issue defined by the club’s budget, while the ‘beggar’s staff’—the measuring unit at the end of every competitive season—is a sign that the club’s professional policy is at its lowest level.

Even poor clubs can consistently compete alongside the rich and famous, but instead of a full bag of other people’s money, they simply need a full head of wisdom so they know what needs to be done—and what should not be done.

Trading or producing? The question is whether to be or not to be on the ‘beggar’s staff’! The wisdom of spending other people’s or one’s own money: one is obtained by asking, while one’s own must be earned through knowledge.

NOTES:

  • Everything can be OK, but if the roster is ‘built like a football team,’ the effort is in vain. Even in such rosters, an extraordinary talent may emerge, but they cannot be developed to their full potential for powerful professional senior basketball.
  • The shortest players on the roster are not necessarily the best potential point guards, just as the tallest players are not necessarily suited to playing the center position.
  • Early guidance toward a winning senior position is very important, as are the program and the expertise responsible for implementing it.
  • It is possible to justify the expenditure of public funds and human resources—talents—only if those seeking them clearly define their objective and invite the best solution for achieving it through a public tender.

The AMB system assumes responsibility for the results of its work.
