6. STORY: SPORT & CULTURE & EDUCATION PROJECTS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH. RiN ACTIONS. UN PROJECT “THINK AND MOVE”. After the war events of 1991/94 that befell Bosnia and Herzegovina, I decided to help children and youth, detraumatize them through sports actions, and introduce them to a new, better life. I formed an association first called RIN ACTION, and later RIN FAMILY. The youth of BiH, eager for a new, healthier life, with the help of domestic and foreign sponsors, enabled Nadi and me, as well as our ambitious team, to continuously organize 41 unprecedented themed, targeted sports–cultural–educational events, to the great joy of all participants. As the icing on the cake came an invitation from the UN Sports Commission to come to Sarajevo for talks, led by the former president of Switzerland. The RIN idea to organize sports & edu competitions for elementary and high school classes in all parts of BiH was met with disbelief, because the war had left deep consequences on all young people and their parents, dividing and complicating relations between yesterday’s neighbors of different nationalities to the point that some demanded children enter the same school building through different doors. The RIN idea that only those who save the cutting of two mature trees—collect half a ton of old paper—could participate in competitions for rich prizes of equipping sports halls and outdoor grounds ensured a mass participation that will be remembered forever. Through EDU Internet games: ETIQUETTE, ECOLOGY, FIRST AID, …, also the work of Rusmir Halilović, groups were formed and competition locations assigned, so that young people traveled across all of BiH, got to know other cultures and customs, and made new acquaintances and friendships. For the idea, organization, and leadership of the multi-month project “THINK AND MOVE,” RiN received a London bus and built an Internet club inside it with multi-purpose content and functions.
